"I leave you the greatest empire in the world, but your preserving it depends upon your remaining always united. If discord steals in among you all will most assuredly be lost."
-Genghis Khan
Legacy
Genghis Khan can be described as many things. His name alone can portray an image of Genghis Khan. Some, upon hearing the name of Genghis Khan, immedialty think of a blood thirsty, ruthless, harrowing general who lead an army of similar warriors. Others immedialty think of a brilliant, intellectual, inventive leader who united the Mongolian people. However, these images are made from people who only think of the terror he left behind or of the military brilliance he left that we can learn from, not from the ideas and iinnovative intelligence that Genghis Khan left behind .Genghis Khan, an amazing, brilliant warfare tactician, and a superior leader, conquered, unified, and ruled the most contiguous expanse of land in history- Mongolia. He, upon accomplishing that, also spread, throughout his empire, technologies like gunpowder, paper money, the compass, and trousers. Also, Genghis Khan "revolutionized warfare, and they also created the nucleus of a universal culture and world system.(...) With emphasis on free commerce, open communication, shared knowledge, secular politics, religious coexistence, international law, and diplomatic immunity." ( Matteuci, 2004)
After The Khagan
Shortly after the Great Khagan of The Mongolian Empire died in his sleep( 1227), the Mongolian empire was divided among his four sons, Borjigin Jochi, Borjigin Chagatai, Borjigin Ogedei, Borjigin Tolui. Sadly, the empire, now ruled by four different leaders split apart. Due to this, what was once the most extensive empire in history, slowly vanished. Some parts of the empire blended ad developed into it's surrounding areas, whilst others were invaded and taken over. Some parts just vanished.
