Genghis Khan- Khagan of the great Mongolian empire
Blood Brothers to Enemies
For a while, Ghenghis Khan had heard of nothing of his blood brother, Jamuka. Years later, Jamuka came back with an army and raided Genghis Khan's tribe, taking hostages, which included some of Genghis Khans' generals. Genghis Khan attempted to reason with Jamuka. In response to Genghis Khan's efforts, Jamuka killed all of the prisioners loyal to Genghis Khan and boiled all the loyal generals in hot water whilst they were still alive. Genghis Khan, having heard of this appaling news, was furious. He set out to raid Jamukas tribe. Different sources say different things about this feud, but they all come to a similar conclusion:
Genghis Khan eventually captured Jamuka and his tribe. Jamuka was given the opportunity to be spared, on the account that he and Genghis Khan were once blood-brothers. However, Jamuka refused to have a fate separate from his loyal warriors. Genghis Khan, broken hearted, killed Jamuka by breaking his back.
Khagan
Set on the belief that the gods had sent him down to earth to conquer the world, Genghis Khan set his mind to doing just that- conquering the world. First, however , he needed an army. His little tribe would not suffice, therefore, Genghis Khan set on creating a vast army. He planned to do this by uniting the Mongolian tribe, who, reminder, were in constant warfare, just as Khabul Khan had done. By 1206, Genghis Khan had managed to unite the Merkits, Naimans, Mongols, Uyghurs, Keraits, Tatars, and disparate other smaller tribes under his rule through his charisma, dedication, and strong will.( Encyclopedia.) Uniting the Mongols showed true leadership qualities because it was a monumental feat for one so small to accomplish something so vast, such as uniting Mongol tribes, who had a history full of internecine dispute, economic hardship, and pressure from dynasties.
The transformation of Temujin into the leader Genghis Khan was fully completed when the Mongol tribes were united under his rule.
